National Lottery Award for the ACTIVE GRIEF WEEKENDS

We are so excited to announce that we have received a substantial grant from the National Lottery to help run our ACTIVE GRIEF WEEKENDS.   This is a welcome acknowledgment of the work we are doing to support bereaved parents and siblings as they start to use their own creativity to grieve.

But what’s really important about this grant is that we will now definitely be able to offer bursaries to all those who otherwise would not be able to afford the cost of joining us on one of our weekends.  We have been gratified but not surprised by the level of interest  and we are now oversubscribed for the May event.   We have now booked a second date at Charney Manor  in November  2018. and are currently looking for another venue to hold a third retreat in the August/September 2018.

If you have already expressed an interest with us we will be letting you know soon whether we have been able to accommodate you in May.

Registration forms will be sent out in the New Year.

For those yet to express an interest you can DOWNLOAD an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST form here.

A REMINDER OF WHAT’S ON OFFER  ….

PHOTOGRAPHY led by Jimmy

MINDFULNESS led by Jane

PHYSICAL EXERCISE  led by Joe

CREATIVE WRITING  led by Jo B.

Yes!  We have responded to many requests to add a creative writing element to the weekends so we’re happy now to announce that we will be joined by theatre director Jo Bousfield who will be leading the sessions to help you get that inner voice out and onto paper (or screen).

Jo  has  worked in theatre for over 40 years, notably Dr Foster’s a small scale touring company, and more recently, Flies on the Wall and Barnstorm two youth theatres in the West Country.  Jo’s daughter Harry died in 2011 having been diagnosed with spinal cancer four years earlier.

“These Active Grief Weekends” she says, “provide an opportunity to work closely with other bereaved parents.  By giving ‘airspace’ to their perceptions I hope to help them to allow their loss to be alive, not buried.”

We’ll have more news about our ACTIVE GRIEF WEEKENDS in the New Year.  In the meantime if you want to secure yourself a place on any of the weekends then download the form now.

Jimmy
